Virtual reality is more than a game. It can save lives and improve efficiency returning on investment many times over. Heavy industry enterprises contain hundreds of unique processes and procedures in a single facility. Educating the work force on these systems is expensive, time consuming, and potentially dangerous. It is valuable for maintenance workers, operators, engineers, and managers to understand the inner workings of mechanical systems from a theoretical standpoint as well as the step by step practical execution of policy and procedures. Traditional two dimensional training aids and in the field hands-on time limit the capacity to keep everyone fully informed and genuinely experienced. This creates a significant margin for error and miscommunication.

The OSHA standard for The Control of Hazardous Energy (Lockout/Tagout), Title 29 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 1910.147, addresses the practices and procedures necessary to disable machinery or equipment, thereby preventing the release of hazardous energy while employees perform servicing and maintenance activities. Employees servicing or maintaining machines or equipment may be exposed to serious physical harm or death if hazardous energy is not properly controlled. Craft workers, machine operators, and laborers are among the 3 million workers who service equipment and face the greatest risk. Compliance with the lockout/tagout standard prevents an estimated 120 fatalities and 50,000 injuries each year. Employees need to be trained to ensure that they know, understand, and follow the applicable provisions of the hazardous energy control procedures.

At Diamond Age Technology, we are facilitating a new wave of industrial revolution. We do not resell a generic package of training tools. We create and maintain a virtualized portfolio of your facilities equipment and environment in accurate photo, mechanical, and spacial realism. We build training, testing, and collaboration tools within this environment as well as a secure database to manage and analyze metrics. This package is a long term asset with extensive uses inside and outside the virtual environment as a tool for training, safety, planning, sales, marketing, engineering, and testing.

The Lockout/Tagout experience available here is a demonstration of the basic capabilities and possibilities of using virtual reality as an integrated component of your enterprise. You will be lead through the experience by a virtual narrator. If you are interested in a demonstration within the virtual showroom lead by real people, sign up at www.diamondagetechnology.com

This showroom will continue to be expanded to demonstrate additional use cases in heavy industry as well as other enterprises. Virtual and augmented reality are tools that offer a significant competitive advantage to every business in the same capacity as did computers and the internet before it. Though we are in the early years of their practical implementation on a broad scale, their impact on your enterprise can be immediate and lay the foundation for your future growth. For showroom updates and practical use cases of virtual and augmented reality, join the email list, or for a more casual VR/AR learning experience, follow us on Facebook.

If you are looking at this experience as a member of the general virtual reality community without connection to industrial processes, we appreciate your attention. We believe there is a coalition of interested minds who wish to learn more about how the world works and develop real world skills and knowledge while inside virtual reality. As we continue our development of simulations for education, safety, training, and testing we will launch an accompanying virtual reality series, Certified, to take you behind the scenes and put you hands-on in the action where you can train, test, and compete against the rookies, the pros, and the community. Track your achievements and compare your progress on the leaderboards. Heavy industry is only the beginning. Our skunk works includes Certified for firefighters, pilots, truck drivers, and even the humble grocery sacker. If you are interested in beta testing the Certified program, sign up at www.diamondagetechnology.com
